Machinist – CNC Programmer Operator - Pendergrass, GA

Job Summary:

Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.  Consistently produce a high quality and quantity of acceptable work.

Responsibilities / Essential Functions:

  • Program CNC machine by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs to operators.
  • Set up and operate any manual machine with no supervision.
  • Read and understand Engineering drawings/blueprints
  • Plans machining by studying work orders, drawings, materials, specifications, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). CAD/CAM and read drawings
  • Program G-code machine language
  • Make changes and knowledge on Mastercam.
  • Design and manufacture set up fixturing.
  • Maintain general shop safety and cleanliness.
  • Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters.
  • Handle Liquid Nitrogen
  • Assist other machining centers as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Experience/Training/Education:

  • HS Education or equivalent; 2 year technical degree or certificate preferred
  • 4 Years CNC programming experience with specialized machine shop measuring equipment
  • 4 years experience in general machining practice
  • Knowledge of engine components
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools
  • Proficiency with basic computer skills

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of HAAS/FANUC controls
  • Proficient knowledge of HAAS/FANUC controls
  • Ability to read and understand engineering blueprints
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good judgment
  • Ability to skillfully operate machine tools
  • Ability to enter confirming orders into SAP   
  • Ability to use specialized machine shop measuring equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. or more with assistance or hoist machinery

Physical and Environmental Elements:

Manufacturing environment.  Subject to noise, dust, diesel fuel, and oil and extreme seasonal temperatures.  No HVAC system in production area.  Requires performing work standing for up to 8 – 10 hours per day, up to 6 days per week.  Operators must have sufficient sensory capabilities to perform essential functions of the position, including vision, hearing, smell, and balance.
